]]> MPhil. in Material Science form Bath University (U.K.) and Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Cantabria and nowadays a Lecturer in Chemical Engineering at the University of Cantabria, UC, Spain.

She is involved (1992/Present) in the UC Chemical Engineering Degree and Master/Doctorate Programs “Chemical Engineering and Process Engineering”.

The research activity developed is focused on subjects related to the simulation and optimization of chemical and environmental processes and industrial plants.

Collaboration in Research and Development Projects at International, European and National level as well as transference results projects with the industrial sector. She has participated in more than 25 SCI papers, 1 invention patent, 40 International Congress and 1 Ph Thesis supervision, obtaining 3 research periods of 6 years from the Spanish Education Ministry.

During 1998 and 2010 developed research stays of 6-8 months at the Chemical Engineering Department of the Carnegie Mellon University (USA).

]]> Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering at the University of Cantabria and she is also a Professor in Chemical Engineering at the same University. Currently, she is participating in the UC Degrees of Chemical Engineering, Marine Engineering, and Nautical and Maritime Transport Engineering.

Recently, she has been involved in the UC Degrees of Industrial Engineering and in the Master/Doctorate Programs of “Chemical Engineering and Process Engineering”.

Her research activity is related to the modeling and simulation of chemical processes. She has collaborated in Research and Development Projects at European and national levels as well as in transfer result projects with the industrial sector.

She has participated in nine SCI papers and thirteen International Conferences. She has been granted a period of six years of research by the Spanish Ministry of Education.

]]> Received his B.Sc. in Chemical Engineering in 1994, his M.S. in 1997 and the PhD degree in 2001 from the University of Cantabria, Spain. Later, he was a Researcher and Teaching Assistant in the Chemical Engineering and Inorganic Chemistry Department.

He was a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Technical University of Crete, Chania, Greece, from 2005 to 2006. At present, he works as an Associate Professor at the University of Cantabria and as Vice-Dean of International Relations in the School of Nautical Studies.

His research interests are in the areas of waste valorization in biofuels and bioproducts as well as marine sediments and industrial waste management. He has worked in the direction and collaboration in Research and Development Projects at International, European and National level as well as Transference Results Projects with the industrial sector.

He has participated in more than 30 SCI papers, 1 invention patent, 80 International Congresses and the supervision of 4 PhDs, obtaining 2 research periods of 6 years from the Spanish Education Ministry. During 2011, he worked as a researcher for 4 months at the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department of Imperial College London (UK).

He has participated in more than 70 SCI papers, 1 invention patent, 150 International Congress and 10 Ph Thesis supervision, obtaining 4 research periods of 6 years from the Spanish Education Ministry. Member of the Editorial Board of the journal “Integrated Environmental Assessment and Management” from the SETAC. During 2010 developed a research stay of 8 months at the Chemical Engineering Department of the Carnegie Mellon University (USA).

Doctor en Ciencias Químicas por la Universidad del País Vasco UPV-EHV. Actualmente es Catedrático de Ingeniería Química en la Universidad de Cantabria (UC). Imparte desde 1992, asignaturas del área de Ingeniería Química en las titulaciones de Ingeniería Química e Ingeniería Técnica Industrial (Química Industrial). Participa en docencia de tercer ciclo dentro de los Programas Oficiales de Postgrado con Mención de Calidad MEC “Ingeniería Química y de Procesos” de la UC (1994/Actual) y del Programa “Erasmus Mundus Master in Water and Coastal Management”, de la Universidad de Cádiz (2007/Actual). Coordinador de diversos cursos de títulos propios de la UC, Cursos de Verano y de Formación Continua, en el ámbito de la Ingeniería Química y en el ámbito medioambiental.

Desarrolla su actividad investigadora, inicialmente en UPV/EHU y posteriormente en la UC, en el ámbito de Caracterización, Control, Evaluación Medioambiental y Gestión sostenible de Residuos Industriales y Sedimentos Marinos, a través de la dirección y colaboración en Proyectos de I+D+I a nivel Nacional y Europeo, tanto de carácter básico como en colaboración con el sector industrial. Ha obtenido cuatro sexenios de investigación de la CNEAI, avalados por más de 70 artículos Internacionales en revistas indexadas, 10 capítulos de libro con ISBN y 15 artículos en revista Nacionales; 150 comunicaciones a Congresos Internacionales y por la concesión de 1 patente de invención. Los trabajos publicados en los últimos 5 años pertenecen a las áreas de Ingeniería Química, Ciencias Medioambientales, Ingeniería Medioambiental y Química Analítica; Dirección de 10 Tesis Doctorales. Miembro de la Editorial Board del journal “Integrated Environmental Assessment & Management”, de la SETAC. Desarrolla una estancia de 35 semanas (2010) en el Chemical Engineering Department de la Carnegie Mellon University de Pittsburgh, PA, USA, para estudio de tecnologías de secuestro geológico de CO2.
